It’s August, which means it’s Jack Kirby Tribute Month again! Created by Howard Simpson, this year’s prompts are all Fantastic Four-related. And things are kicking off with none other than Mr. Fantastic himself!
Transformed like the other members of the quartet by an encounter with cosmic rays on a rocket trip into orbit, Reed Richards is the leader of the Fantastic Four, and one of the most brilliant minds in the Marvel Comics Universe. He took the stretching powers he gained and found innovative ways to use them, not just in dealing with menaces encountered by the Fantastic Four, but even in his everyday work in his lab. Not having his unique abilities, most scientists would probably find it physically difficult to work on some of the equipment he designed.
Tune in again tomorrow to see who’s next!
I love this part of August when you “passionately attack” Kirby’s creations and co-creations. Keep ’em coming!
Thanks! It’s always inspirational to go back and look at Kirby’s work. There’s definitely more in the pipeline. Will I make it through the whole month and get them all? Stay tuned!
Excellent “comin’ at ya” Mr. Fantastic. The look on his face that you have created inspires me too, as one would do a crowd watching, create a story for the circumstance you have illustrated. And of course, I am piqued to think this year you might tell us a tale. Thanks so much for sharing your excellent work.
Thanks, Joe! Glad you enjoyed it.
