It’s apparently that time of year, when artists look back and post a sampling of the work they’ve done the previous year in this format on social media. I’ve been seeing some of these popping up on LinkedIn the last few weeks or so, with the #ArtVsArtist hashtag. Looking back, it’s been awhile since I did one (2020!), so I thought maybe I’d do it again, join in on the fun.
Any regular visitors here will probably recognize several of these from posts I’ve made this year. I debated using a more current image of myself in the center, but ultimately decided to stick with the same one I used last time. It’s a 12-year-old me, and if you saw the whole photo, you’d see I was attempting to do a painting (in oils, no less!) of the USS Enterprise from Star Trek (the Original series, of course). We all have to start somewhere (though the truth is I had been drawing for years even before this).
Anyway, thanks for stopping by, and a Happy New Year to you!
Interesting layout of your work. Care to tell us how you arrived at your choices? I love it. The character in the middle frame top. I do not remember seeing it but I certainly must have. Happy New Year.
Happy New Year! Choices were just details of pieces I did that I thought stood out this year for one reason or another. Not everything here appeared on my site, but it was all done within the confines of 2025 (with the exception, of course, of my photo in the center).
Can you tell me where the middle panel on top was originally. I have gone through my memory and then through the last couple of years and I cannot seem to find it. Thanks.
Hi Joe,
Neither that panel nor the middle bottom one have appeared on my site before. As a rule, I don’t necessarily post every piece of artwork I do in a given year on my site, for various reasons. But I felt like for a year-end summation “Art vs. Artist” piece, details from those two images belonged here.
Thanks. You did warn me in the text that I might not be able to identify everything in this post’s mix of images. Again it is terrific. Thank you.
