…Yeah. Pretty silly.
The origins of this one go back a little over a year now, to this post. I’d also posted that Red Tornado cover on LinkedIn, where people started bringing up other humorous superheroes who’d also based their costumes around red long underwear.
Over time, that gradually sparked an idea: why not put all those characters together on one team? I had to make a list first, to be sure not to forget any of them that were mentioned to me. While that was percolating, I remembered the cover of Justice League #1 from 1987, by Kevin Maguire and Terry Austin. Seemed like a great basis for assembling this team of longjohn-suited heroes for a cover shot.
For those who might not recognize all these characters, I’ll clue you in. The front row (L to R) features Forbush Man and Herbie, the Fat Fury. In the middle row is Super Goof, the Red Tornado and Captain Klutz. And the big guy there in the very back is Supersnipe.
If this were a real comic, it would definitely qualify as quite odd! Including Go-Go checks also made sense to me, for some reason. Hope you enjoy!
